Well hey there, everyone.

Yeah, I know it's late, but there's no way I was gonna miss getting this week's Squares into your hands. We're coming off a week that shook up the college rankings (and not incidentally, made me look a little bit silly) owing to Michigan's surprise  win over Oklahoma, paired with Oklahoma State breaking a 21-game FBS losing streak by absolutely pantsing the Oregon Ducks. We've got two more games on the board this week, but Saturday night's game is the one I'm really excited about, and it's also the one that basically everyone in college football has had circled since last November: LSU and coach Lane Kiffin return to Mississippi to play the team he abandoned just as they reached their first College Football Playoff. Hold on to your butts, folks.

LSU vs. Ole Miss, Saturday, 9/19, 4:30pm PT / 7:30pm ET, ABC
Lane Kiffin spent six years turning Ole Miss into a program that could beat anybody, then left for LSU a week before the Rebels reached the first College Football Playoff in school history, the one he'd just spent those six years building towards. LSU is comfortably the most hated team in the sport right now, and Kiffin appears to be having the time of his life. The Tigers spent this week on some shenanigans about whether quarterback Sam Leavitt would play, but pretty much nobody believed them, and Leavitt will play after all. The real question is whether he's going to be any good, because he's struggled so far this year. Trinidad Chambliss, the Rebels' superstar quarterback that Kiffin tried to take to Baton Rouge with him and who chose to stay, gets the ball for Ole Miss. Both teams walk in undefeated, and Oxford has been mad as heck since November with absolutely no intention of getting over it.

Jacksonville vs. Denver, Sunday, 9/20, 1:05pm PT / 4:05pm ET, CBS
Denver's defense missed 28 tackles Monday night in Kansas City, which is a
record, and not the kind anybody frames. Bo Nix didn't fare much better in his
first game back from the broken ankle that probably cost the Broncos a trip to
the Super Bowl last season, and the evening added up to a 31-10 loss that had people in
Denver scanning the schedule for something gentler. This game, though, ain't it. Trevor
Lawrence and the Jaguars scored on their first four drives against Cleveland and
had it put away by halftime. The Broncos are a better team than Monday made them
look, and a Sunday afternoon at altitude against an opponent feeling very good
about itself could be an opportunity for them to flip the script and get back on
track. Then again, it could be big, big trouble for Denver.
